A CORNISH FORAGING & FOOD ADVENTURE
with George Linklater + Eloise Eats
A fabulous weekend-long foody retreat at the Manor! This unique and immersive retreat allows guests to experience a wild food adventure in the heart of North Cornwall. You will enjoy foraging, feasting, cocktail and cookery demonstrations, as well as the beautiful grounds which include a babbling brook and enchanting woodland to set the scene for a wonderful couple of days.
The weekend offers budding foragers and foodies the chance to learn how to identify wild ingredients whilst the countryside is springing to life and the vegetation is at its best. George, co-founder of Bello Wild Foods, will share his knowledge and experience of this abundant area whilst taking you on exploratory walks through the Cornish landscape. This will encompass a range of different habitats to show you a variety of all the different wild edibles that can be found there. You will learn how to recognise different plants and be taught how best to pick and prepare them, whilst discussing the historical and current preparations of foraged foods.
Guests will arrive on Friday to enjoy dinner prepared by Michelin trained, naturopathic chef and nutritionist Eloise Eats. Each day Eloise will prepare a feast showcasing the wild edibles from the surrounding area. On Saturday a foraged breakfast will be provided before our outdoor adventures begin. Whilst out for the day we will enjoy a wild picnic lunch and you will have the opportunity to talk all things food and forage with George and Eloise, discussing the nature of living off the land, biodynamic cultivation, naturopathic principles and medicinal herbs.
In the evening George will host a wild cocktail making class, where you will be shown methods for infusing wild ingredients with alcohol, exploring ideas and recipes whilst learning how to make delicious concoctions of your own. The lesson will culminate with a tasty wild cocktail served with a selection of foraged canapés to kick of the beginning of our four-course wild food feast.
To give you an understanding of how to use our precious finds, on Sunday after breakfast and a foraging tour around the beautiful Manor grounds to gather ingredients, Eloise will show you some preparation and cooking techniques whilst we all create a fantastic foraged spread for a late lunch and our final meal together.
The retreat is aimed to let you re-engage with nature, allowing you to gain a greater understanding and respect for all aspects of the natural surroundings so often overlooked in our busy lives. Guests will be given the tools to enable them to feel confident in incorporating wild food more regularly into their day-to-day lives and will be provided with a summary of all the wild edibles found through the course of the weekend.
